Riviera 1962
Technique: Fusion Marquetry
Made entirely of precious woods.
There isn’t a drop of paint, sometimes solid stained wood is used.
The Riva is made of mahogany and the rest of tthe artpiece is made of sycamore, hornbeam, maple, rosewood, etc.
There are inlays of stainless steel pieces that the artist machined himself and a few rigging elements from a Riva model.
The Italian flag is made of fabric.
The background is made of a very special wood, as it is fossilized oak, called swamp oak: it has naturally darkened by oxidising in a swamp over thousands of years.
